Digital Video, Podcasting, Wikis--can I get it done!

Thursday 8:30 p.m., June 21st is going to be here in no time and I am really stressed. We've finished our digital video and podcast, but there is still so much more. I have truly enjoyed learning Web 2.0 technology and just wish we had more time to spend. I finished the first 5 hours of a podcast DWPD today and it was very good. I just wish more classroom teachers had signed up for it. Jan, Mary and Jessica did a great job and the professional musician/singer was excellent. The DWPD goes right along with what we are doing in this class. Mary Hefner has an excellent example of a project she completed at Freedom in 2005 which would help any of us to ignite the interest of using music with student learning. If we had more time, I would love to share it with everyone!

Digital Video

We worked on our video this week and had a good time doing it. Will be very interesting to see how it turns out. Tonight should be fun. One of my goals for the fall is to work on digital video projects with teachers and students. I've seen several projects this year that I could have helped the teacher and students integrate the process of digital video which would have enhanced the learning and giving them a product. Rather than making up new projects, I'm going to go to those teachers. I'm excited.

What's wrong with one more?

Tonight's cohort class went really well. Jodi and I have to miss the 26th and 28th, so we have to have all of our work completed by the 21st. We started planning our digital video assignment and everything seemed to move along very smoothly. I had the giggles all night long. Isn't there some kind of saying "when you laugh too much, watch out, you might be crying later?"

When I got home tonight, I had a phone call from an owner of one of my puppies from my only litter of bloodhounds. I had been keeping her dog temporarily while she figured out her home situation. She has to give the dog back after 7 years.

Yes, I wrote my contracts so that IF the owner needed to find another home for one of my puppies, I was to get the dog back so that I could place it.

He is a wonderful, sweet, 7 year old house dog. That is the problem, he is a house-couch sleeping-people dog...We are not used to this, our 4 bloodhounds don't spend night and day with us, they live in a barn and hang around the house a little. I can't put this dog in a barn. I haven't the heart.

So while I'm stressed out over my school work, I have this dog to worry about. It's not like I needed another issue in my life. Why does this happen? Anybody want a dog? Need a companion? Have a friend that needs a friend?

Another Wednesday!

I am really enjoying our face to face classes. I wish we weren’t running through the semester so quickly. Creating our own wiki for our school was instructive. My librarian has wanted to use blogs and wikis in her curriculum and now I have an idea of how she can use them along with some excitement!

Keeping everything straight

Tonight's GMU cohort class was very informative. I enjoyed working with wikis and blogs but initially had a difficult time keeping them straight. By the end of the evening everything made sense.

Graduation-Saturday

First, I would like to thank my friends who commented on my first post. I was so overwhelmed last week...

This evening, I am feeling totally the opposite...I am so glad that I participated in the Graduation ceremony on Saturday at the Patriot Center. The experience was so exciting and uplifting. I feel rejuvenated! The five weeks I have left doesn't feel as bad as it did last Wednesday evening.

First night of last semester

Boy am I overwhelmed! It is okay. It is all good. It does seem like a lot, but it should be good. I'm just a little overwhelmed that it all has to be done in 6 weeks but I have to finish in 5 weeks because I'm missing the last week.

The only good thing about all of this is that I elected to do my online course with a mentor and can do the bulk of it after I finish this. That is if I need to.
